What You Need To Know Before Applying For HDB’s Parenthood Provisional Housing Scheme (PPHS)

PPHS is temporary rental housing

The Parenthood Provisional Housing Scheme provides an interim rental option for eligible households waiting for their new HDB flat to be completed. It is not a substitute for the purchased flat and availability is limited.

Check eligibility against the current HDB page

Use HDB's current PPHS portal for eligibility, application process, rents, deposits, cancellation and tenancy matters. Do not rely on an older article for household-status or income conditions.

Budget for the complete waiting period

  • Monthly rent, deposit, utilities and moving costs
  • Basic furnishing because available flats may be unfurnished
  • Travel and childcare changes from the temporary location
  • The risk that the preferred flat type or town is unavailable
  • A second move when the purchased flat is ready

Compare PPHS with staying with family and open-market rental using the same time horizon. Do not sign a private tenancy or incur non-refundable costs until HDB has confirmed the actual PPHS offer and dates.
