What You Should Know About The Married Child Priority Scheme (MCPS) Before Applying For BTO

Updated September 2026. The Married Child Priority Scheme is no longer the current scheme for new applications.

MCPS was replaced by the Family Care Scheme

From the July 2025 sales exercise, HDB's Family Care Scheme (FCS) replaced the previous Married Child Priority Scheme and the proximity element of the Senior Priority Scheme. Current applicants should use FCS rules, not an archived MCPS quota.

FCS supports proximity and joint balloting

FCS (Proximity) helps parents and their married or single children apply to live with or near one another. FCS (Joint Balloting) allows eligible parents and children to make linked applications for two units in a project offering the relevant flat types. Review HDB's current priority-schemes page.

Priority is not a guaranteed flat

  • Obtain a valid HDB Flat Eligibility letter before the sales application.
  • Check the exact proximity, household and flat-type conditions.
  • Understand any undertaking that must continue after key collection.
  • Apply only for towns, projects and flat types the household can accept.
  • Account for non-selection rules if a flat is offered.

Use the conditions for the specific BTO or SBF exercise because quotas and administrative details can change between launches.
